OBJECTIVES OF THE SOCIETY

Society   of  Nuclear  Medicine, Bangladesh was formed in the year 1985 but at the initial years it was not so active. Later  on  it started  functioning properly in the year 1994.  Now  there  are about 100  active  members  comprising  doctors  and other nuclear medicine.

1. To   establish   an   organization   for physicians  and  scientists  to  perform  and     coordinate  the work  of  common  interest  in  the  field of nuclear  medicine. The     common  interest  in  the  field  of  nuclear  medicine  is concern  with diagnostic,     therapeutic and investigational use of radio nuclides & nuclear technique.
2. The organization would  work as a platform for the  physicians &  scientist  in  the     nuclear  medicine  to have  meeting  for better communications and  discussions    regarding the knowledge of nuclear phenomena applied to the control of disease.
3. To  disseminate   information  concerning nuclear  medicine among  the  nuclear      medicine personnel by sponsoring publications.

    The organization as such would intern work for the betterment and to the service      of  mankind  providing  highest  possible  standard of education, research  and      practice of nuclear medicine.
4. To  uphold the  interest  of the society members in their working field which is not      on contradiction to their service to humanity.


Bangladesh

Bangladesh is the  largest  Delta of Ganges.   Bangladesh is a small country in South- Asia with a large population of about  130 million people. It has a long  history of culture and heritage. Dhaka is the capital of Bangladesh with a population of about 10 million. This country is surrounded by India on west, north and east. Only a small part in southeast is having common border with Myanmar. To the south is mighty Bay of Bengal. There are good numbers of rivers in this country, so the people of this country very  often experience   the adversities of flood. The largest  mangrove  forest  in the world -The Sundarbans, located in the southern part of Bangladesh, is the home of majestic Royal Bengal tiger. The longest   sea beech - The Cox's Bazaar is also located along the Bay of Bengal.
There are six seasons in Bangladesh but winter, summer and rainy seasons are the main seasons. The  highest  temperature  during  summer is in  between  28 - 38 degree Celsius and the  lowest temperature  during winter  is in between 8 -21 degree Celsius.   In  February the weather  is  very pleasant with a temperature between 10-20 degree Celsius.
This is a country of religious harmony, majority are Muslims  and  rests  of  population  are  Hindu, Buddhist and Christians.
This  country  has  long  history  of  struggle. They  have fought against British rule and  eventually became part of Pakistan in 1947. Till 1971 this country was under the rule of Pakistan. On 26th March 1971 the country proclaimed its independence. However, the country was finally liberated on 16th of December 1971 after 9 months of liberation war and at the cost of the life of 3 million people.
As a  whole the  people of  Bangladesh are  very  peace  loving and  simple minded. Generally the people of Bangladesh speak Bangla, however English is widely spoken and understood. There are number of historical places in this country such as Mainamati and Paharpur which are the famous Buddhist  monasteries.  Dhakeswari  temple in  Dhaka and  Kantazir  temple in  northern  part of Bangladesh are two historical  Hindu temples which are worthwhile to visit. There are also various places  of  Muslim  religious  & cultural pride like Baitul Mokarram Mosque, Star Mosque,  Ahsan Manjil - the palace  of  Nabab, Lalbagh fort , Choto Kattra,  Baro Kattra all  located in  Dhaka city which glorifies the old history. Shahid Minar- the language martyrs memorial, Parliament Bhaban , National Mausoleum in savar are some other places where you can pay a visit.
People of Bangladesh have got a traditional warm heart and visitors will love to enjoy their hospitality and company.
